Background

Ms. Cardenas is an associate attorney with Huprich | Vega and focuses her practice solely in immigration. She attended DePaul University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Latin American and Latino Studies. She went on to obtain her Law degree from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She is licensed to practice in Illinois.

Ms. Cardenas has handled hundreds of complex immigration cases ranging from cancellation of removal, asylum, waivers, VAWA, U-Visas, deferred action, and adjustment of status cases. Before relocating to California, she litigated immigration cases in six different jurisdictions, including Illinois, Michigan, California, New York, Georgia, and Ohio. Early on, it was clear to Ms. Cardenas that a legal career would allow her to pursue a passion for human and civil rights; immigration law represented an opportunity for that advocacy. Ms. Cardenas’ strong commitment to immigrant rights make her a valued advocate for her clients and a positive team member at our firm.

Mitzi is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
